Below is a list of some frequently asked questions, but please feel free to call our office, or email us at info@internistsassoc.org. We want to answer your questions.
- For whom do you provide care?
- How about my medical records?
- Why should I have an Internist as a family physician?
- What do Internists do?
- How far in advance should I call to make an appointment?
We care for individuals from early adulthood to our most senior citizens.
You can have your medical records sent to us before your first visit. All that your current physician should require is a signed request/consent from you ("Please transfer my medical records to...") and our name and address. To request a transfer of your records, a form can also be completed at either our office or through your current physician's office.
Studies show that treatment by internists results in quality of care equal to sub-specialty care, high patient satisfaction and more effective use of hospitals, testing, procedures, and technology.
- Internists care for people of both genders and all adults. Internists diagnose and treat 90% of all patient problems.
- Internists work closely with patients and other sub-specialties to coordinate care for special and/or complicated problems.
- Internists treat conditions of all organ systems rather than limiting their practice to a specific organ system.
- Internists treat the whole patient, taking into account all medical, social, and mental health concerns of the individual.
- Internists practice disease prevention and health maintenance in addition to treating illness.
The answer to this question depends on what kind of appointment you need. New patients are scheduled in the first available new patient opening for the physician you request. Follow-up appointments for chronic medical problems should be scheduled as you are checking out, but may also be scheduled by telephone call or email. We also may recommend you schedule a physical exam for your next visit. If you are ill or have an urgent medical problem, every effort will be made to schedule you to come in on the day you call. We will make every effort to accommodate your request.
